Did you know, Jesus Christ intercepts to protect you?

Did you know, Jesus Christ intercepts to protect you?

Yes, this is true – Jesus Christ intercepts.

Much before intercept missiles were used by countries for protection, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has been protecting us by divine interception.

Know the scriptural basis for divine interception. Walk in meekness. Live a life of authority, having Christ Jesus living within you. Experience heaven’s interceptions.

After knowing about divine interception, you will wish you had known these earlier. May the eyes of your heart be open as you read this.

Many of us experience divine protection and saving grace through heaven’s timely and precise interceptions. But some are not aware of this. Not being aware, many are not grateful.

More on interception grouped into topics are given below. Interception in war is woven with divine interception. Read them as per your appetite.

What does interception mean?

Interception is the act of stopping an enemy’s missile or drone before it reaches its target. Think of it as a goalkeeper in football, who shields his team from the competing team scoring a goal. In war, when a threat is launched, the defense system quickly calculates its path and launches its own “interceptor” missile to hit and destroy it mid-air.

On March 11, 2026, Iran launched 39 drones and 13 missiles (6 ballistic and 7 cruise) toward the UAE. Defense systems such as THAAD and Patriot, supported by US Naval ships, worked together to intercept them.

The UAE military successfully destroyed these threats in the air. So, interception is greatly effective in protecting the people in the UAE. Great level of planning, preparedness, and orchestration by the leadership of the UAE and the armed forces helped the country. Seeing the success of the interceptors, many countries have started desiring these, but affordability is a question.

What is the range of interceptors in present-day warfare?

Interceptor ranges vary widely — from short-range systems like Iron Dome that protect cities from rockets, to long-range systems like Arrow 3 , THAAD and S‑400 that can strike threats hundreds of kilometers away, even outside Earth’s atmosphere.

System

 Origin

Range (Distance)

What it Protects

Akash

India

25 km –30 km

Short range; protects bases or convoys.

Iron Dome

Israel

4 km –70 km

Short range; famous for stopping rockets and drones.

Patriot

USA

70 km –160 km (varies by missile type)

Medium range; used worldwide against aircraft and cruise missiles.

THAAD

USA

Up to 200 km

High altitude; intercepts ballistic missiles as they re-enter from space.

Arrow 2 & 3

Israel

 90 km – 2,400 km

Long range; Arrow 3 can hit targets outside the atmosphere.

S‑400

Russia

Up to 400 km

Long range; tracks and intercepts aircraft, drones, and missiles.

Explain interception in numbers in today’s modern warfare?

Modern interceptor systems usually stop 80–95% of incoming missiles or drones. This means most threats are destroyed before they reach their targets. But even a few that get through — or falling debris — can cause some damage.

The numbers also show a big cost difference. An Iranian Shahed drone costs about $20,000, while a Patriot missile used to shoot it down can cost $4 million or so. This creates what experts call a war of attrition — attackers use cheap drones to drain the defender’s expensive missiles and resources.

Lord’s interception instances from the Bible

  • Tamir Interceptor missiles used in Israel’s Iron Dome cost about $40,00 to 150,000. With associated launch (radar, fuel & personnel) cost increase from $100,000 onwards
  • Complete Iron Dome battery costs $100 million
  • Russia’s S‑400 costs $1.3 million
  • Israel’s Arrow 3 costs $2–3 million
  • America’s Patriot PAC‑3 MSE costs $3.9–4.2 million
  • America’s THAAD comes at $12–15 million
  • India’s Akash – pricing not known – contact the marketing team of the manufacturers by email to bdbdl[at]bdl-india[dot]in

Interception is powerful, but it is expensive. Countries are now testing options like lasers and drone-killing drones to make defense more affordable against swarms of threats that come at a lower cost.

Can you share the Lord’s interception instances from the Bible?

Take a break from reading for a few minutes. Try to remember the instances you were protected from danger. You may recall occasions when you narrowly escaped dangerous accidents. A supernatural intervention protected you – these are divine interceptions.

As you understand the significance of these, they get marked as encounters with God. In case you don’t remember such instances, ask anyone above 40. Given them time to recall.

Rosamma, my mother-in-law, has over 8 miracles which she says are divine interception. She speaks of each of these with great enthusiasm. She does not miss an opportunity to testify on these to anyone she meets.

My mom, in her senior years, suffered dementia. She had gone to a beauty salon with my wife. Both of them were in different rooms. But for some reason, Mom had stepped out of the beauty clinic and no one in the busy clinic noticed it. Our home was over 3 kilometers away from the place. But Mum fortunately reached home. She could not have reached home all by herself. It was only an interception by an angel that guided her home.

What could have been an unimaginable crisis, the Lord intercepted with an angel walking by her side. How Mom crossed the heavy traffic and found her direction through various turns cannot be explained. She was not known to walk more than a kilometer.

The precision and power of God’s interception is such that nothing can stop it or block it from achieving God’s precise goal – leading Mom safely to our home. God’s interceptions are powerful and precise. Not only did God direct her steps, but He also gave her the stamina to reach home.

Interception instances from the Bible:

1) Pharaoh pursues the Israelites

The Israelites were tired of being slaves, badly exploited by the Pharaoh. They desired to leave Egypt for the promised land. But they were pursued by the Pharaoh, the King of Egypt. The King and his huge army were chasing the Israelites, with the Red Sea in front of them, and they did not have an escape route.

God’s interception for them came in the form of the Red Sea splitting – so that the Israelites could cross the Red Sea on dry ground. But when the Pharaoh and his mighty army followed the Israelites, in the dry ground, the Red Sea water, which had been a huge wall of water until then, collapsed and drowned the Pharaoh and his army.

The interception sent from God – a dry ground and a wall of water, but precisely after the escape of the Israelites, everything changed. The wall of water fell, the dry ground flooded, and the Pharaoh and his army drowned.

2) Saul persecutes the followers of Jesus Christ

Paul, the writer of many books of the New Testament, was earlier Saul. Saul used to intensely persecute the followers of Jesus Christ. Once he was travelling to Damascus. He thought he was defending God’s honor. He considered that he was observing the Jewish law by persecuting those who followed Jesus.

Followers of Jesus Christ would not dare meet Paul. They knew Paul had persecuted and probably even killed some of them.

But on his way to Damascus, God intercepted him.

As Saul drew near to Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?”

“Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless. They heard the voice but did not see anyone. Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes, he could not see a thing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. For three days, he was without sight, and he did not eat or drink anything. (Acts 9: 3-9)

The interception knocked out Saul. He fell to the ground. Everything about him changed. His name changed from Saul to Paul. He was transformed from being a persecutor of Christians to being a passionate follower of Jesus Christ.

Paul wrote over 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament and preached the gospel to many gentiles in his missionary trips. You can see the divine interceptions have an eternal impact. It not only stops the destruction, but also changes the future trajectory into a huge blessing and fruitfulness.

3) Assyrian King attacks King Hezekiah

We have an interception instance from the Old Testament – when the Assyrian King attacked King Hezekiah. King Hezekiah greatly feared the enemy. He sought the prophet Isaiah to seek the Lord’s intervention.

Prophet Isaiah sent a message to the King Hezekiah after hearing from God.
32 “Therefore, this is what the Lord says concerning the king of Assyria:
“‘He will not enter this city
or shoot an arrow here.
He will not come before it with shield
or build a siege ramp against it.
33 By the way that he came, he will return;
he will not enter this city,
declares the Lord.
34 I will defend this city and save it,
for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.’”
(2 Kings 19:32-34)

That night, 185,000 of the Assyrian king’s army in his camp were killed by the angel of the Lord. Truly a powerful interception that annihilated a large number of people in the enemy’s camp. Remember, the enemy had a successful track record of victorious wars, and fear had gripped King Hezekiah. But his earnest prayers and help from the prophet Isaiah contributed to the protection through the divine interception!

4) Haman on the brink of success in killing the Jews

King Xerxes of Persia was looking for a new queen. He chose a beautiful Jewish girl named Esther, who was an orphan raised by her kind cousin, Mordecai. Mordecai told Esther to keep this a secret that she was Jewish so she would stay safe.

The King had a helper named Haman who was very mean. Haman had a great ego, and he wanted everyone to bow down to him, but Mordecai would only bow to God. This made Haman so angry that he tricked King Xeres into signing a law to hurt all the Jewish people.

Mordecai sent a message to Esther, asking her to talk to the King. This was very scary as no one—not even the Queen—could go to the King without being called by the King. This could mean severe punishment. Esther asked her people to fast and pray. Then, she bravely went to the King. He was happy to see her and held out his golden sceptre to show that she was safe. Esther invited the King and Haman to two dinners.

At the dinner, the King asked Esther what she wanted. She told him about Haman’s plan to hurt her and her family. The King was furious at Haman and commanded that the gallows Haman had prepared for hanging Mordecai be used to hang himself (Haman)! King Xerxes made a new law to keep the Jewish people safe.

The boldness God gave Queen Esther, the favour with King Xeres on Queen Esther and a dream the King had were all interceptions from God that led to the protection of Jews from total destruction. From the jaws of death, the Jews were rescued and given much power and authority in the Kingdom. (One night, the King could not sleep and he had looked into the royal records of an instance when Modercai had saved the King’s life by reporting a plot against the King.)

Because Queen Esther was brave and spoke boldly to the King about taking up their cause, the Jews were saved from being destroyed. Every year, Jewish people celebrate this happy ending with a holiday called Purim.

Bible verses that point to interception

1) Evil meant by enemy turned to good by God – an interceptor that transforms

What the enemy meant for evil was turned into good. Yes, the spiritual interception not only protects against the enemy’s evil intent. But it also transforms the evil intent into good.

But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. (Genesis 50:20 NKJV)

As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive [as they are this day]. (Genesis 50:20 AMPC)

2) Word of God is a two-edged sword – intercepter that is alive & full of power

The precision and sharpness of the Word of God are as precise as the surgeon’s tools.

For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 AMPC)

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12 NLT)

3) Covering you with His feathers – intercepts like a dome

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” ( Psalm 91:4 AMPC)

He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

Which are the spiritual equivalent of Iron Domes?

Many Christians and others use this prayer,
before flights,
before they travel,
start their day,
before they step out of the home,
before they step into the battlefield and many such similar occasions.

Psalm 91 is the very best divine interception prayer

There are innumerable miracle testimonies of protection and shielding from air crashes, accidents, and plagues.

Notice that like the psalmist, we can with faith declare that the Lord is our refuge and our fortress as he protects and shields us. The verse goes on stay that we rely on Him and confidently trust in Him.

I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! ( Psalm 91:2 AMPC)

We can declare that the divine interception and be sheltered under God’s protective wings. Here, “you” in the original psalm is substituted with”me”. In case you are praying for anyone else, you can choose that person’s name in place of “you” on the psalm. Thus, through prayer, you can activate this divine interception.

Declarative prayer for Divine Interception

God covers me with His pinions, and under God’s wings shall I trust and find refuge;
God’s truth and faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
I shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at my side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near me.
(Psalm 91:4-7 AMPC made into a declarative prayer)

Advantages of using Psalm 91 as an interception in your life:

When you have made the Lord your refuge in your life
When you made your Lord your dwelling place – when you abide most often,
These are the benefits you receive:
No evil will fall on you,
No plague or calamity will come near your tent.
Most certainly, God will give His angels charge over you
God will assign the angels to accompany you
He gets the angels to defend and preserve you
God will instruct the angels that in all your ways of obedience and service to God, you are protected and totally shielded.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,
10 There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].( Psalm 91:9-11 AMPC)

If the above verse is made to cover your sons Joseph and David, then the above verses would be paraphrased as below.

Tailor-made example of Declarative prayer for your family or friends

Because Joeph and David have made the Lord their refuge, and the Most High their dwelling place, no evil befall them, nor any plague or calamity come near their tent.
For God will give His angels charge over Joseph and David to accompany and defend and preserve them in all their ways. In the name of Jesus Christ, I prayfully declare and believe this. Amen.
