Daily Bible Reading and Meditation

Here is the verse for today Jeremiah 17: 5 to 8 Bible version NLT

5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans,
who rely on human strength
and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert,
with no hope for the future.
They will live in the barren wilderness,
in an uninhabited salty land.

7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.

Quite often we trust in the people we know for favour, for getting things done. But the scripture says, how futile and purposeless this is. The person whom you put all your trust in could suddenly go unwell? Perhaps someone whispered wrong things about you to the person whom you trusted to show favour. Even a person going to a Doctor for a sickness needs to place his trust in Jesus. We know cases where Doctors miss out on key symptoms. Whereas as we trust in our Lord, He will remind and point out matters to be noticed to the Doctor.

Our focus, our certainty is to be only on Jesus Christ, our Lord and saviour. Read the Bible verse again, meditate on it to examine your heart, to examine your life and to find out the areas you need to shift your placing your trust and hope.

Throughout the day carry the thought, identify and list matters. Only with action taken can you make progress. Remember, you can be fruitful even in seasons of pandemic or any recession.
