About the Holy Communion
The Holy Communion was instituted by Lord Jesus Christ for us – that means for you, as well for me. Jesus Christ knew very well that he was to be crucified and why he was to be crucified. Yet he who was fully man, chose to go ahead into this with full awareness.
Jesus as fully God
While he suffered all these, He was fully man. He was Fully God when he was birthed by the Holy Spirit without man’s intervention. So unlike us, Jesus did not inherit sin as He was born of God (the Holy Spirit).
Jesus as fully man
But the sufferings he underwent as fully man. There was no reduction of pain or suffering since He was God. Suffering, pain, he suffered as a man in spite of knowing fully well that He was without sin, that he was being blamed for issues that He was not responsible. As a man, Jesus Christ desired if this cup of suffering could be set aside. All the pain, and the sufferings beyond comprehension came to His mind. Jesus was sorrowful unto death. So Jesus asked His disciples to watch with him and Jesus went to pray asking if this cup could pass from Him, yet only as per father God’s will.
You will recall that Jesus when He came later, when he saw the disciples sleeping, he asked them if they could not watch and pray for at least an hour. This time when Jesus went to pray. Jesus told His Heavenly Father if this cup had to be drunk by Him. Even then, Jesus said that He would rather choose to drink it as per His will. After this prayer Jesus noticed when he came back to His disciples, they were sleeping and announced to them that the son of man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
The foreknowledge that Jesus was the lamb of God
When John the baptist saw Jesus Christ. He told his disciples, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29b NKJV)
So understand that, not only Jesus, buta few others including John the baptist knew and foretold about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the purpose of the crucifixion – in taking the sin away – i.e. redeeming the world of the sin.
Why was Jesus the lamb of God? How does it matter to us?
In the old testament, we read in the book of Isaiah, chapter 53 all about Jesus Crucifiction. Here is verse 5 alone for our consideration.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.(Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)
What do we read here?
For our transgressions, Jesus Christ was wounded.
For our iniquities, Jesus Christ was bruised.
For our peace, Jesus Christ was chastised.
For our healing, Jesus Christ was beaten and wounded with marks of stripes on his body. All this was foretold 700 years before Jesus.
How should we respond to the Holy Communion?
So what Jesus has given, is already given, we only need to receive.
Thus what Jesus has already given to you, does not change depending on who is giving the Holy Communion or does not depend on who is breaking the Holy Communion.
Why expect healings & miracles through the Holy Communion?
So let us partake of the Holy Communion with faith, hope, expectancy.
Let us expect wounds of the body,
Wounds of the mind to be healed.
Let us hope and experience forgiveness of transgressions,
Healing of our body,
Forgiveness of our iniquities.
For those who want the precise scripture, let us read Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. ( Ephaesians 3:20 NKJV)
So let us who need healing of body or mind.
Forgiveness of our sins and iniquities increase our expectancy.
People who are anxious and lack peace.
Let us together repeat:
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.(Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)
Getting back to Jesus when he established the Holy Communion.
The day was the first day of passover.
Jesus told his disciples to ask a certain man for a room in his house for the teacher and his disciples to keep the passover.
Go ahead and sanctify the bread and the wine (or grape juice), stretching forth your hands over the Holy Communion elements.
Speaking these to be unto us the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
Jesus took the bread and broke it and gave it to His disciples. Reading Mathew 26th verse from chapter 26
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” ( Mathew 26:26 NKJV)
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ( Mathew 26:27, 28 NKJV)
Let us repeat:
We partake of the Holy Communion with faith, hope, and expectancy.
We expect wounds of the body to be healed,
We expect the broken heart to be wholesome.
We expect anxiety and worry of the mind to shift and reach a place of abundant peace.
We expect to experience forgiveness of our sins and transgressions.
Healing of our body,
Forgiveness of our iniquities.
What we expect and Hope for is delivered, it’s a done deal. Because He gives us exceedingly and abundantly more than what we ask and desire. ( Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
God blesses each one with faith the size of a mustard seed,
So that we see mountains move.
Healings manifest. Peace restored.
Anxiety disappears.
Let us not depend on the need for full understanding, because it is belief in the Holy Communion that Jesus Christ wanted us to take part in for forgiveness of sins, healing of body and mind.
Let these healings and wholesomeness bring glory and honour to our Lord Jesus.
