Answer 1) Jesus was mainly healing the sick people on the sabbath day. Unfortunately the Pharisees considered this to be breaking the Sabbath day law of rest. Jesus spoke about the priests in the Jewish temples who perform priestly duty on Sabbath days. Jesus also spoke about the tradition of new born baby boys being circumcised also on the Sabbath day. He spoke of many more situations where the Sabbath day law of rest was being broken, but these were over looked.

Thus it was very clear that the religious authorities had felt threataned and were very envious with envy and evil hatred as Jesus healed all kinds of sick people that he came across.

The scripture reference can be read at Mathew 12:5, John 7:2.

Answer 2a) To receive a prophet’s reward, one does not have to become a prophet. Instead, one can choose to receive a prophet in the name of a prophet. This will enable him to receive a prophet’s reward. The scripture reference is Mathew 10:41.

Answer 2b) When a person acknowledges and receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, he shall receive a righteous man’s reward. We know that anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour of their life is righteous.

Anyone who gives a glass of cold water in the name of a follower of Christ (disciple) will receive the reward. Scripture references are Mathew 10:41 and 42, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Philippians 3:9

Answer 2c) By accepting anyone who has come in the name of Jesus, we can receive Jesus. This can be any person who comes in the name of Jesus Christ—it can be you and me who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior—it can also be a priest or a pastor, a prophet, etc. Similarly, by receiving Jesus, we can receive the Heavenly Father.

Answer 3) The Bible says that if a person confesses Jesus Christ before others, Jesus Christ would speak about us to the almighty God. Isn’t this simply awesome and a great privilege? So it’s necessary to speak about Jesus to people around us intentionally. You can read this in the Gospel of Mathew 10:32

Answer 4) The Bible says clearly to fear God, as it is the beginning of wisdom. The Bible says there is no need to fear those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Man can only kill the body. The people who trust in God are safe but those who fear man will be in a trap. This can be read from Proverbs 9:10, 29:25 and Mathew 10:28.

Answer 5) The expectation from people who have seen signs, wonders, and miracles is that we are expected to change the way we think. We are to become people who have greater faith and belief in God. Jesus Christ rebuked the cities in which most of his mighty miracles had happened as they had not repented – changed the way they thought – they neither wore ashes and sackcloth as a sign of changing the way they thought. You can read in Mathew 11:20 to 23. Drawing nearer to God and seeking forgiveness is thus an important expectation from Jesus from people who encountered the presence of God through signs, wonders and miracles. This also points to increase in faith. We are expected to grow in faith and belief in God as we get to see miracles.

Answer 6) Those who spend time reading and thinking about the Bible verses they read. Those who ask God and find out how and what they read brings change in the way they think thoughts and they speak and act. They spend time with God and praise and worship him in addition to reading the Bible – all the while reading it as a letter and instruction from God. All these and more is summarized as waiting upon the Lord.

Thus those who wait upon the Lord shall not be tired or would they ever faint. They will not be tired when they run. They would not faint even if they walk a great distance. Thus to summarize they would renew their strength. You can read this in Isaiah 40:31.

Answer 7) We know for a fact that what we speak is from the abundance of what fills our heart. This is well mentioned in Mathew 12:34. Thus a good man would bring out of the good treasure in his heart good things – good words, encouraging words, kind and considerate and loving words.

One should not be casual about carelessly speaking anything without being mindful and careful. Jesus says that we have to give account of every idle word we speak on the day of judgement. Jesus makes it further clearer that by our words we would be justified and by our words we would be condemned.
