Today’s verse is from the Epistle to Galatians 5: 24,25
Find below the verse from three versions of the Bible.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.(version NIV)
And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.(version KJV)
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit].(version AMP)
From the three versions it’s very clear that as a Christian, a person who claims to follow Jesus and believes Jesus Christ is our only way, truth and life, we have crucified the sinful nature with its sinful passions and sinful appetites, affections, desires and lusts.
Knowing and being constantly aware of this reality, we should walk in the Spirit. Let us walk in personal integrity, godly character and moral courage.
Two aspects are important to realize,
1) Crucifixion on the cross of sinful appetites, desires and lusts.
2) Walking in the Spirit as we are empowered by the Spirit.
In Epistle to the Romans 8:5, Paul says : For those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose] (Version AMP)
