Christian's Faith Walk

What do you feed the people around you? A Christian perspective.

Many mothers cook and feed their families.
Some fathers cook occasionally, some cook always.
Some sons cook. Some daughters cook.

But irrespective of whether we cook or not cook, we feed people.
It may not be food that can be seen, may not be food that can be served in dishes, bowls, and plates.

What we feed our minds and the minds of the people around us is equally important, if not more important, than food that can be tasted by our minds. The words we speak, the hope we speak, or the hope we crush with careless, thoughtless words. Similarly, the actions we do have a similar effect. It is good to contemplate what it is that we feed the people around us.

Jesus told his disciples in John 4:32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”

This verse is from the passage of the Samaritan woman. The disciples of Jesus had gone to buy food when Jesus was waiting by the well. Jesus was intentional in every action of his. He had a reason for going through the town of Samaria. He had reason to wait near the well of Jacob. He knew he would meet the woman at the well and the ultimate salvation of the people in Samaria would result.

Jesus said to his disciples in John 4:36 “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”

We are in the families we are born into, we are in the work we do, we are in the cities we live in for a reason. Wherever and whatever circumstances we are in, we are meant to shine with the glorious light of Jesus, being channels of God’s amazing love.

We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

The purpose of our lives cannot be expressed better than in Matthew 5:13-16 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
