Great Faith – Faith praised by Jesus

Today’s verse is from Luke 7:6-9. Here is the verse from the Bible.

And Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent [some] friends to Him, saying, Lord, do not trouble [Yourself], for I am not sufficiently worthy to have You come under my roof;

Neither did I consider myself worthy to come to You. But [just] speak a word, and my servant boy will be healed.

For I also am a man [daily] subject to authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bond servant, Do this, and he does it.

Now when Jesus heard this, He marvelled at him, and He turned and said to the crowd that followed Him, I tell you, not even in [all] Israel have I found such great faith [as this]. (version AMPC)

Jesus was praising the centurion’s faith. The centurion’s servant was extremely sick and was about to die.He greatly valued the servant. So, the moment the centurion knew that Jesus had entered Capernaum, the centurion sent a few Jewish elders to Jesus. He wanted Jesus to heal his servant suffering from a life-threatening illness.

But when the centurion came to know that Jesus was not far away from his house, he conveyed to Jesus that he was not worthy of having Jesus come into his home.

The centurion asked Jesus to say a word and heal his servant, instead of Jesus visiting his house.

The centurion’s faith in Jesus was great. He believed Jesus may choose to command with authority as a prophet or son of God, for healing the centurion’s servant.

Jesus praised the faith of the centurion. Each instance in the Bible is meant to inspire us, encourage us in our faith walk and even teach us.

We need to improve our expectations of miracles. As all of us are people with some kind of authority over someone or other, we are able to get things done. Similarly, we should also get things done with the spiritual authority we have as sons and daughters of God.

Expect heaven’s intervention for people around you, because Jesus Christ is in you, the hope of Glory. You can pray for peace to manifest, joy to increase and every other breakthrough.
