Bible Quiz: Book of Revelation (Advanced)

Book of Revelation

The Book of Revelation is unique in various ways. It’s the last book of the Bible. It points to the day of the Lord’s 2nd coming. It points to the end of the age. It mentions Satan, the beast, the global control, the one world system, the mark of the beast, the counterfeit Christ, and the counterfeit peace. When I was a child and a youth, the book did not make sense. I did not understand much, and I was confused. But now that I understand my identity in Christ, I realise I am a child of God; I am aware that I am one of the sons of God. I see better and understand the book of Revelation.

The book of Revelation can be used as a warning so that we do not fall into the deception of the age. Our hearts and our eyes are to be only on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Answer a) Timing is mentioned in the following ways in the book of Revelation.

Time is at hand – implying that it’s now.
Refer to the verse Revelation 1:3.

Chapter 3: 11 says, behold, the Lord Jesus comes quickly.

The right thing that Bible-believing Christians should do is to prepare our hearts and lives for the “day of the Lord’s coming” any day and time, even today, even now.

Answer b) The book of Revelation is about the prophecy of the second coming of Jesus Christ. Apostle John saw this vision when he was in the Island of Patmos. He was asked by the Spirit of God to write this as a book, for the benefit of the church, so they can be prepared for the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ.

Answer c) We are asked to read this book. The reason is straightforward.

There are three specific reasons why we should earnestly read this book of the Bible. 1) For being blessed. The 3rd verse in chapter 1 of this book says that Blessed is he who reads, hears, and follows that which is written in this book of prophecy.

2) For the 2nd coming of the Lord is soon. One who reads this, hears this, and follows this book can be prepared. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. ( Revelation 3:11 NKJV)

3) The book gives many insights – so we can correct our understanding and life, and we can receive eternal rewards like the “crown of life”.

Answer d) Jesus held the seven stars in His right hand. The seven stars represent the angels to the seven churches. ( refer Revelation 1:20)

The two-edged sword came out of his mouth. We know that the Word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12 says.
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)

Answer e) Jesus has the keys to hell and death. ( refer to Revelation 1:18)

Answer f) Jesus told the church of Ephesus that He was against them, as they had left their first love – the fervent and passionate desire for God and the eager looking forward to spending time in the presence of God.

Jesus asks the church to repent and do the deeds that you did at first. Thus, be restored to the first love for the Lord.

Jesus told that unless they repented, their candlestick – implying the church – would be taken away from the people of Ephesus.

Jesus says to the person who overcomes, He will give to eat off the tree of life, which is in the middle of the paradise of God.

Jesus knew the deeds of the Ephesus church; their intolerance of evil people, perseverance, and endurance for Jesus, without weariness. While these were acceptable, Jesus made it clear that it was most important to have the tenderness and eagerness for Jesus as our first love.

Answer g) Jesus recognizes the tribulation, the hardships the church of Smyrna endured for Christ. He asks them not to fear what they are about to suffer, including tribulations for ten days.

Jesus told the church of Smyrna not to fear what they would suffer. He encourages them to be faithful until death so they will receive a crown of life.

Jesus mentions their worldly poverty, but He praises their spiritual richness.
Thus, out of the seven churches, Jesus did not warn the church of Smyrna or the church of Philadelphia.

Answer h) Jesus says that the church of Pergamos held on to the name of Jesus firmly without denying faith. recognizes the tribulation, the hardships they endure for Christ.

But the church of Pergamos was warned as they caused the sons of Israel to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit idolatry. So the church is asked to repent immediately.

However, to those who overcame from the church at Pergamos, Jesus would give hidden manna and a new name written on a white stone.

To the church of Thyatira, Jesus said that their deeds, love, faith, and perseverance were greater than in the initial period.

The wrong the church of Thyatira did was that they tolerated Jezebel, who misled people to sexual immorality and ate things sacrificed to idols.

The church was asked to repent and to follow the Lord’s deeds till the end; Jesus would give authority over the nations to rule with an iron rod. Jesus would also give the morning star to them.

Answer i) The church of Philadelphia was given the very best commendation among all the seven churches.

The Lord says: Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut because you have a little power, and have followed My word, and have not denied My name. (Revelation 3: 8)

The Lord would make the evil people come and bow down before the feet of the church of Philadelphia, and make them know that Jesus loves them.

Because the church kept the Lord’s word of perseverance, the Lord will keep the church from the hour of testing that comes upon the whole world.

The Lord says to the church: I am coming quickly; hold firmly to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

The Lord promises to the one who overcomes that he will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from the temple anymore.

The Lord would write on the church of Philadelphia
the name of My God,
the name of the city of My God – the new Jerusalem,
which comes down out of heaven from My God,
And my new name.
